Original story: A TRUCK rollover at Ulmarra on the Pacific Highway continues to cause havoc for weekend motorists with the highway closed in both directions for several hours.

A NSW Police Media spokeswoman said emergency services were called to the scene near King St Ulmarra just before 7am.

The B-double truck brought down power lines after slamming into a power pole during the rollover.

The driver of the truck was able to free himself from the wreckage and was assessed by paramedics at the scene but his condition is unknown at this stage.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Extensive diversions have been put in place, with motorists advised to use the Summerland Way from Grafton to Casino, then the Bruxner Highway via Lismore to link up with the Pacific Highway at Ballina, and vice versa for southbound motorists.

The diversions were expected to be in place for "a number of hours" to enable Essential Energy to right the pole and the wires.
