MANY HANDS make like work. 

That was certainly the motto yesterday morning when around 15 volunteers turned out to give 87-year-old Rockhampton war widow Jessie Harris' house a spruce up. 

Berger Paint for a Mate lends a helping DIY hand to a local widow or family affected by war through Legacy Australia, by giving their home a much needed makeover, and today, Mrs Harris' 65-year-old long time family home was the lucky recipient of a fresh coat of paint. 

There was plenty of smiles, laughs, banter and true Australian mateship all-round as the team of volunteers, supported by Inspirations Paint Rockhampton, worked to paint the Rockhampton home in lovely shades of blue and cream which were hand-chosen by Mrs Harris herself.
