Park to power off at 9pm

RESIDENTS in North Rockhampton seemingly didn't take much of a shine to a council plan to light a popular playground until 11pm.

Rockhampton Regional councillor Tony Williams said yesterday council had had a re-think about keeping the lights on until this time at the recently re-vamped Rigarlsford Park, in Koongal.

From now the council will turn the power off at 9pm.

"Residents said it was a bit over the top to have the time that late, so we'll now put it back to 9pm and see how that goes," Cr Williams said yesterday.

The park was officially opened by Member for Capricornia Kirsten Livermore and Rockhampton Regional councillor Cherie Rutherford yesterday.

About $450,000 has been spent on upgrading the park, including exercise equipment, picnic shelters and electric barbecues.
