Party people prowl Oxford St
ROCKHAMPTON'S very own Oxford Street Party is set to send Rocky flying off its hinges tonight.
The night before New Year's Eve, the event will be a spectacular warm up for tomorrow night, and Kelsey Barnes and Sarah McCulloch agree.
"We're really excited and the venue looks awesome, they've done a really great job," Sarah said.
"I bought the tickets as soon as they came on sale, I haven't seen Boy and Bear live before so I'm really looking forward to watching them."
Opening for Boy and Bear is Rocky band Atomik Jon who won a competition to get on the line-up for the annual street party.
Drummer Jon Bloxsom said he was stoked to opening for Boy and Bear.
"We went up against five or six other bands to get the spot so we were really surprised when we won because there were so many other good bands," Jon said.
"We're big fans of Boy and Bear so we're excited to be playing before them and warming up the crowd."
Sergeant Paul Bennett of Rockhampton Police warned punters there would be a high police presence at the event with on the spot fines for minors with alcohol.
"We want to remind people it is an offence to supply a minor with alcohol and it is $1000 on the spot fine," Sgt. Bennett said
"And it's a $225 on the spot fine if any minor if found with alcohol."
"More than 20 security guards will detect this sort of thing."
