Patrons get new venue at mule
ROCKHAMPTON race-goers will have a new hot spot tomorrow night.
Karl and Georgina Schamburg, together with co-owners of the Ginger Mule, Gerard and Mandy Boland, have been working on extending the bar for the past six months, and the doors to the quirky new room are ready to open tomorrow night.
It's designed for those who want to stay and boogie.
Karl and Georgina said that since opening the tapas bar in Rockhampton almost two years ago, the venue had become more and more popular and there was a need for more space.
“Everyone always has such a great time, but it usually gets so busy that there wasn't enough space for anyone that wanted to dance,” Georgina said.
The theme of the room follows the same eccentric look of the Mule and the same funky tunes will start off the night before later transforming into a retro-style area with dance music by their resident DJ and '80s disco lights to set the scene.
It also incorporates a stylish new bar with a new range of the Ginger Mule's “famous frozen cocktails”.
The doors will open tonight, with the big launch tomorrow night after St Peter's Caulfield Cup Race Day.
Karl said the venue still catered for those who wanted to have a few relaxing drinks and listen to music in the front bar, live local entertainers performed on the rooftop bar and now there was the option to dance on Friday and Saturday nights.
There is a big weekend of entertainment planned with Aaron Russell and Matt Bromley performing on the roof top tonight and Jared Buckly and Mick Guinane to perform tomorrow night from 6.30pm.
But it's not just the extension that's new at the Ginger Mule. You can also look forward to a char grill menu which is coming soon, as well as being able to enjoy the original tapas menu.
Georgina said the new bar had already created new jobs and they would consider hiring more staff later.
