'Penman' proof dreams can come true

OUR SAY: STEVEN Wooldridge is a bit of a local celebrity around Toowoomba.

He gives up his time twice a week to deliver newspapers to patients at Toowoomba Hospital.

He's volunteered for years at events such as Easterfest and the Carnival of Flowers.

And last year his passion for collecting pens from local businesses - about 40,000 across 15 years - morphed into an art exhibition that became an "internet sensation".

His crowning achievement has been volunteering at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Now he wants to add to his impressive list and lend a hand at next year's Commonwealth Games.

But funds are tight and he may not be able to attend as a volunteer without your support.

His niece Ashleigh Baker has taken up his cause and is seeking help to raise funds.

She has launched a Go Fund Me campaign with a target of $8000.

It's a cause worth supporting. Visit Go Fund Me and search for ''Help the Penman get to GC2018".
