Death of Buderim woman in crash seventh this year

THE death last night of a 28-year-old Buderim woman after a crash at Beerwah brings the number of fatalities on the Coast this year to seven.

Last year there were four fatal crashes in the region in January.

Yesterday's tragic death comes only days after another young woman and her unborn child died in a horror crash on the Bruce Hwy. Another man died in the same incident.

In yesterday's crash, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Steve Irwin Way and Beerwah-Kilcoy Road.

The woman, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, and her 28-year-old male passenger were both transported to Nambour General Hospital. The man remains in a stable condition in hospital today.

Police today said they had notified relatives but the name of the woman had not been released.

The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit continue.
