Petition calls for Landry to resign, have by-election

A PETITION has been created calling on Capricornia MP Michelle Landry to resign after it was revealed on Monday the Defence Minister knew about land acquisitions before the election.

The petition on Change.Org was started on Monday by Patricia Corry. Her Twitter account, from which she tweeted a link to the petition to many politicians in the past two days, shows she is an Australian Labor Party member.

Ms Corry has tweeted the petition in 33 separate tweets tagging politicians from both the Liberal National Party and the ALP.

The petition states:

"Senator Marise Payne has admitted that the Liberal National Coalition went to the 2016 election and they did not tell the people of Capricornia that they were planning forced acquisitions of farming land for the purpose of defence training expansion for the Singaporean Army.

"Michelle Landry made multiple announcements about the Defence deal with the Singaporean Army.

"Michelle Landry won her seat by 1,111 votes.”

The petition had clocked 185 votes by 2.45pm today.

The Morning Bulletin sought a response from Ms Landry, who is in Federal Parliament today, but has not received a response yet.
