Phil Collins rushed to hospital after nasty fall

PHIL Collins has been rushed to hospital after falling over and hitting his head in a motel room.

The musician, who is making his comeback tour, endured a not so spectacular climax to his performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Wednesday night when he tripped during a late-night visit to the toilet.

The 'Another Day In Paradise' hit-maker then hit his head on a chair and was forced to make an emergency trip to the hospital.

The 66-year-old, who suffers from "drop foot", was given stitches to close the wound and was kept under observation for 24 hours.

Collins' management team said he was "recovering well", however, the subsequent two shows at the venue were forced to be cancelled.

The tour is expected to resume in Germany.

"Phil sends his sincere apologies and thanks to fans," a statement read.

Collins officially retired in 2002 but announced his return last year.
