Photographs help catch ‘sex attacker’
AFTER allegedly sexually assaulting a Rockhampton woman this week, Ellis Fred Murray is accused of throwing her to the ground and kicking her because she tried to photograph him.
He was arrested soon after the alleged attack on Thursday morning and appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday charged with sexual assault and assault occasioning bodily harm.
He also faced a charge from May 22 of consuming liquor in a public place.
Police said the 29-year-old woman was walking along Victoria Pde about 6.30am when she was confronted by Murray who sexually assaulted her.
When she tried to photograph him, he sexually assaulted her a second time, before throwing her to the ground and kicking her.
She was transported to Rockhampton Hospital for treatment.
Murray was found soon after on Denison St, where the woman's photographs helped identify him.
He pleaded guilty to all charges in court, but the matter was laid down for a mention and possible long plea on July 10.
He did not apply for bail, as he was already on parole for another offence.
