Pigs are rip-snorting fun and heading to Rockhampton

KNOWN for their unique and hugely popular rendition of Kanye West's Gold Digger at the semi-finals of Australia's Got Talent last year, The Pigs have been wowing audiences all over and now they're heading to Rockhampton's Flamingo's On Quay tomorrow night.

Prepare for a rip-roaring night of boots 'n' all fun; crashing through musical genres like a runaway tractor, The Pigs' latest album The Great Bluegrass Swindle marries superb musicianship with a distinctly Australian sense of humour - and hints at the uniquely bent energy of The Pigs' exceedingly popular live shows.

Recorded over 10 banjo filled days, The Great Bluegrass Swindle holds six original tunes, including the epic She Wants Your Kidney and the rather quirky Adrian Married A Megaspunk.

Other highlights on the album are definitive versions of Adele's Rolling In The Deep and the '80s classic Just Can't Get Enough.

The Pigs are a family band, never found without their trademark blue singlets and hillbilly hats.

Brothers T-Bone and Stretch Pig sing lead vocals and play acoustic guitars, with cousin Archie Piccolo Latte Pig on double bass and cousin Shamus beating his stand-up drum kit. Various cousins join them on stage, adding banjo, fiddle, mandolin or accordion to the mix. Many from Rockhampton will know The Pigs from their unique performances at The Gympie Muster through years.

In 2013, the band continues The Great Bluegrass Swindle Tour, with a host of Australian dates, followed by a return tour of Germany and Denmark.

Album out now through iTunes and JB Hi Fi.
