Pilbeam records strong sales
MORE than $2million worth of tickets have been sold through the Pilbeam Theatre's ticketing system in the past 12 months.
The $2.2million of sales comes from more than 86,000 tickets sold.
The figures have jumped from 55,123 sales in 2008 with a value of $1,271,293, and 72,303 tickets in 2009 with a value of $1,856,203.
Almost 23,000 tickets were sold on the internet, representing 27% of the total sold, council said in a media statement.
Deputy Mayor and chair of council's Community Development and Customer Service Committee, Rose Swadling, said this year's figures were a great result.
“The increase in sales not only represents an increase in the number of events and in patronage at the Pilbeam Theatre, but also an increase in ticket sales for events at venues other than the Pilbeam Theatre,” Cr Swadling said.
She said Rockhampton Venues and Events sold tickets for local events at venues around the region using its online, phone and box office facilities.
“This is a great service that the theatre box office can provide which in turn brings in extra income for the council,” she said.
While council provided a statement on this year's ticket sales at the Pilbeam Theatre, a spokesman said it would not be able to provide a response to how much profit the theatre made this year until the facilities manager Peter Owens returned from leave.
