Pipe band to play at Kern Arcade Markets
THE Central Queensland Pipes and Drums Inc.will be playing a variety of tunes at the Kern Arcade Car Park Markets in Bolsover Street on Sunday, December 13.
People will be able to enjoy listening to a number of traditional Scottish as well as some well known favourite tunes. The Christmas song 'The Little Drummer Boy' will also be included.
To add interest to the band's performance the pipers will be playing a tune exclusively (without drums) and later in the program the drummers will be doing a special display. As well as playing at the various markets the band is also available to play for Parades, Celebrations, Special Occasions and Events. Our band has learner members from the age of 10 years through to experienced players in their early eighties.
For people wishing to learn either the Bagpipes or Drums, there is no requirement to be able to read music, all tuition is free of charge, conducted at our weekly practices. An instrument can be learnt at any age not necessarily in their youth. The band uniform is provided to members. In joining the pipe band members are able to play their instruments throughout their adult life. Some of our members have been able to resume playing after an absence from the band due to family or work commitments.
Band practice is held once a week on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm at the rear of the C.Q. Military Museum, Cnr Archer & Alma Sts., Rockhampton. New and former players are most welcome to make enquiries with the band this Sunday between 9am to 11am or to attend one of our practices by phoning Secretary, Brenda Haine on 0412 347 885 for details.
