Places and faces inspire Rocky exhibition opening
CAPTURING the character of people and places throughout the Rockhampton region is what Matthew Dobson likes to take from his imagination and put onto canvas as a local artist.
Working in oils and acrylics as well as sculpture, Matthew is hosting his third Rockhampton exhibition titled, All in a Day's Work to be held at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre, opening last month.
Matthew has been perfecting his craft over 10 years, gathering inspiration from local characters and landmarks unique to Central Queensland.

"As a child, sketching and drawing were always a passion of mine," he said.
"As I have grown I have pursued more of an interest in art and started to develop my own style.
"I like painting the landscapes, events, things like The Great Western Hotel, the show, as well as individual portraits of people.
"I incorporate movement, energy and colour into my art and my best work comes from places I draw upon in the local area."
