Planned power outage tonight

ERGON Energy will cut power to 2200 customers tonight to replace a high-voltage power pole damaged by fire at Parkhurst this morning. 

Corporate Communications manager Bob Pleash said the outage would last from 11pm to 3am for customers in the Alton Downs, Ridgelands, Caves and Yaamba areas to Clairview.

Those affected would include residents in areas such as St Lawrence, Ogmore and Marlborough.

Mr Pleash said bushfire activity damaged the pole between the Parkhurst and Pandoin substations at 10.30am today, cutting power to 2200 customers for 20 minutes.

"Emergency repairs were carried out this morning," he said.

"On this occasion we have to replace the pole. Unfortunately we have to take it out of service to replace it."

The planned outage will affect the same customers as the original blackout.
