IPSWICH police have arrested and charged two people accused of kidnapping a woman and torturing her for several days.

Trevor John Hayman, 27, and Sheridan McGuire, 37, each faced a series of charges at Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday, which included kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, torture and assault occasioning bodily harm.

It is alleged the pair snatched a 37-year-old woman from an address in Ipswich and took her to a property in Woodend.

Police will claim the victim was assaulted, tortured and threatened with weapons.

The woman, believed to have been known to both Hayman and McGuire, was allegedly kidnapped last Sunday.

Police were alerted to the incident after the victim managed to escape from her alleged captors and sought treatment for her injuries at the Ipswich Hospital.

McGuire and Hayman were arrested by Ipswich police on Tuesday afternoon.

At court yesterday, the pair did not apply for bail and were remanded in custody.

The case has been adjourned to May 27.

Sheridan McGuire has been charged with a series of offences relating to an incident where a woman was kidnapped and tortured.
