Police attend attempted stabbing in McDonalds carpark

BREAKING 7.30pm: REPORTS suggest a pedestrian has attempted to stab a man in a McDonald's car park after he was refused a lift.

It is believed he approached a man sitting in his vehicle at around 7pm in the George St car park.

Reports suggest when the driver refused to give the man a lift, he grabbed him with both hands, pulled out a knife from his bag and attempted to stab him.

The knife reportedly then broke off the handle, and the man ran off.

It is believed a Caucasian, bald man was apprehended by police on George Lane at about 7.10pm.

It is understood the driver did not want to make a complaint about the assault.

Reports suggest police have since recovered the knife blade but not the handle, and will be pressing charges.
