Stolen ClubSport driver evades police capture

UPDATE: A stolen Holden ClubSport sedan was the subject of an extensive police search after it was taken from a Mt Lofty property.

Police are investigating whether or not a large knife was used to threaten the car's owner before it was taken from a Geoffrey St home about 9.30am.

The silver sedan, bearing registration details HSV373, was seen at Withcott and then at Hatton Vale on the Warrego Hwy about 10.15am.

It reportedly evaded police while travelling along the highway.

Lowood police were searching for the vehicle this afternoon.

EARLIER: A police chase is under way in the Lockyer Valley after a man allegedly stole a vehicle at knifepoint in Toowoomba.

The car was stolen from Toowoomba earlier this morning.

The man was travelling on the Warrego Hwy heading towards Brisbane.

He is now in the Lowood area.

Police have attempted to intercept the vehicle several times.
