Police close down drug circulation operation in Emerald

QUEENSLAND Police authorities have shut down a major drug operation between the Gold Coast and Emerald after a 19 month investigation.

About 33 people have been charged with 103 offences in Operation Lima Siege.

Investigators have found six purpose-built "grow houses" containing 164 mature cannabis plants and 11kg of dried cannabis - valued at $925,000.

Police officers have seized $92,300 worth of property.

Today, detectives from the State Crime Command's Drug and Serious Crime Group, with support from Central Region officers, raided 16 properties in Emerald.

Operation Lima Siege started in March 2013.
