Police flooding heroes recognised
ROCKHAMPTON police officers who went above the call of duty during last year's floods have been recognised for their efforts.
Assistant Commissioner Alan Davey presented National Medals and Clasps, Queensland Police Medals and Clasps certificates to 116 officers and staff members at a ceremony on Wednesday.
Among the recipients were those who did such a magnificent job when the Fitzroy River broke its banks in January last year.
Inspector Dave Peff, of Rockhampton police, said the presentation of these awards recognised acts or service by police officers and staff members deemed extraordinary, significant, commendable or worthy of recognition.
Two Rockhampton officers who played key roles in a siege situation in 2009 were also awarded the Commissioner's Certificate of Notable Action.
Assistant commissioner certificates were given to officers for resourcefulness, intelligence and dedication in pursuing investigations for serious offences. The awards ceremony was held at the Rockhampton Salvation Army complex.
