Police arrest wanted man after foot chase

UPDATE 1PM: A QUEENSLAND Police Service spokesperson has confirmed the incident on Stenlake Ave this afternoon. 

The spokesperson said crews were called to the address after police saw the man who was wanted on a return to prison warrant. 

A family who were near the address at the time of the arrest said they had been playing with their children at a nearby park when they saw multiple police officers. 

The mother said she saw the man run into the home before being apprehended by police. 

UPDATE 12.20PM: ROCKHAMPTON Police have arrested a man in Kawana after a short foot chase. 

The man, who was wanted for questioning by police, was swiftly apprehended by police in Stenlake Avenue this afternoon and is being transported to the watch house for further questioning. 

BREAKING 12PM: POLICE are descending on Kawana in pursuit of a male.

Initial reports indicate a man, described as being dressed in black with orange shoes, has fled police in the Richardson Rd/Scott St area.

Reports suggest police engaged in a foot chase with the male along Stenlake Avenue and he was last seen heading into a backyard on Stenlake Avenue.

The Morning Bulletin understands multiple police crews have positioned themselves at intersections in the area including on the corners of Scott and Lutton Sts and Mercer St and Richardson Rd.

It is unclear at this stage what the man has done.

Motorists and pedestrians are urged to avoid the area and give way to police.
