Police on hunt for man who assaulted Rockhampton taxi driver

ROCKHAMPTON Police are looking for a man who assaulted a local taxi driver at the Rocky train station last night.

About 9.50pm yesterday, a Caucasian man called a Yellow Cab to pick him up from an address in Murray St, in south Rockhampton.

The cab driver transported the man to the south Rockhampton train station, a short distance up the road.

Acting Inspector Ben Carroll said when the taxi arrived at the station, the man become abusive.

Act Insp Carroll said the man then punched the cab driver, leaving him with facial swelling and bruising.

The man boarded a train last night towards Cairns.

The offender is described as Caucasian, was wearing a baseball cap and had with him a blue blanket.
