Thieves hit flood victim service

POLICE are hunting callous thieves who stole a $10,000 catering trailer used by Global Care volunteers to help flood victims and emergency services in Grantham.

Toowoomba Citilife Pastor Joe Casey said his church leant the purpose-built trailer to Global Care for the flood recovery effort.

The trailer contained a cast iron commercial hotplate, measuring 1.2metres long, a fold-out barbecue, tables, fridge, esky, and gas bottles.

Volunteers have used the bright yellow trailer to feed thousands of police officers, search and rescue personnel, army personnel, contractors and volunteers.

Gatton Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Tom Missingham said it was a low act.

“We expect anyone who is aware of the offenders should have no qualms in giving them up,” he said.

The trailer was parked at the corner of William and Railway Sts and stolen between 4pm Friday and 11am Saturday.

Its registration number is CH 0320.
