Mother-of-four killed in horror Warrego Hwy crash

INVESTIGATING police have renewed an appeal for any witnesses to a fatal single-vehicle crash near Plainland on Friday to come forward as the tragic circumstances surrounding the crash are revealed.

Samerin Mudawi, 33, was driving with her son, 4, in the vehicle when it crashed into a guard rail on the Warrego Hwy about 3.40pm Friday.

Ms Mudawi died at the scene as her son was taken to a Brisbane hospital with minor injuries.

Social media reports said Ms Mudawi, from Calamvale in Brisbane's south, had been driving to collect a birthday cake however that was unable to be confirmed by police.

The single-vehicle crash closed the eastbound lanes of the Warrego Hwy for several hours, causing extensive delays Friday afternoon.

Country Patrol and Support Services Inspector Sharee Cumming said investigations into the crash were continuing, and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The drivers of two heavy vehicles who were among the first on scene at the crash on Friday were urged to contact Policelink on 131 444 as part of the investigations, as well as any drivers with dashcam footage.

Insp. Cumming urged people to drive to the conditions and be mindful of their surroundings when behind the wheel.

"I guess we're still wanting people to drive to the conditions, be situationally aware and taking account of what is going on around them, not just in the car," she said.

"The Fatal Five message still doesn't seem to be getting through for a variety of reasons.

"Unfortunately traffic crashes are not so discriminatory."

Anyone with information which may assist the Forensic Crash Unit is urged to phone 131 444.
