Police investigate Emerald assault

EMERALD police investigating the alleged assault of a 20-year-old Emerald woman on Saturday afternoon are appealing for information from the public.

The assault occurred in Yamala Street, Emerald between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday.
 
Early reports suggested the assault may have been of a sexual nature.

"The woman was walking in Yamala Street when she was approached and later assaulted by two unknown males," said Emerald officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Graeme Reeves.

"Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen unusual or suspicious activities, persons or vehicles in Yamala Street or nearby areas to contact Emerald CIB on 4983 8100, or anonymously via Crimestoppers."
