Missing bushwalkers airlifted to safety

UPDATE: TWO men who went missing on a bushwalk on the weekend have been airlifted to safety.

The men, aged in their 20s and 50s, set off on Saturday morning, October 28 and were due back on Sunday.

Police were notified on Sunday night when they did not return home and the Rescue 500 helicopter was sent out on Monday afternoon to find them.

Both men were choppered to safety late yesterday afternoon.

Neither of them were injured.

 

UPDATE: AT least one bush walker missing at Mount Barney since the weekend has been air lifted to safety.

The Rescue 500 chopper spotted them in bush land at about 2.20pm today.

Emergency services have managed to speak on the phone to both the people involved.

 

INITIAL: Police are coordinating a search for two men after they failed to return from a two-day hike at Mount Barney National Park yesterday.

The men - one aged in his 20s and the other in his 50s- set off on Saturday morning, October 28 and were due back on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Police were notified last night when the pair failed to return.

A search last night located the men's vehicle parked in the Cleared Ridge car park.

Today's aerial and land search will include Rescue 500 and police and SES personnel.

It is understood the men are experienced bushwalkers however storms impacted the area last evening.
