Remains found at Botanic Gardens

POLICE say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances after human remains were found at the Cairns Botanic Gardens this morning.

Cairns police Sen-Sgt James Coate said a member of the public was walking near Tank 1, which is at the Sheridan St end of Collins Ave about 8.30am when they found what appeared to be skeletal remains and contacted police.

A crime scene was set up.

He said the identity of the remains was yet to be confirmed.

“There are not believed to be suspicious circumstances at this stage,� he said.

Investigations are ongoing.
