Police seek clues with robbers

POLICE are investigating a number of leads from Monday night’s armed robbery of a North Rockhampton convenience store.

A police spokesman yesterday said CCTV footage had provided valuable information for investigating police about the attack, during which three men armed with a small gun and a baseball bat stole cash and cigarettes from the Oasis Convenience Store on the corner of Richardson Road and Bruigom Street.

CCTV images of the attack, which happened just before 8pm, are expected to be released today.

A male shop attendant was the only person in the store at the time of the robbery.

Police said he was “okay” yesterday after his ordeal.

Two of the bandits hid their faces behind pieces of clothing while a third had a hood over his head.

The first male had an Aboriginal appearance and wore three-quarter blue denim shorts, a black and white singlet and dirty white joggers. He covered his head and face with a black and white singlet.

The second man, who was holding the gun, had a Caucasian complexion and was wearing a dark, long-sleeved hooded jumper, dark three-quarter shorts and white joggers with black laces.

The third suspect carried a baseball bat and had a tan complexion.

He was wearing white, black and yellow board shorts, thongs and used a white shirt to cover his head.

It’s thought the men had run into the Norman Gardens area after the robbery.
