Police seize $350,000 drug crop
POLICE have seized a crop of cannabis with an estimated street value of $350,000.
When police executed a search warrant at a man's property north of Rockhampton on Monday, they found close to 140 plants with a potential value of $2500 per plant.
Yesterday the 29-year-old who lives on Atkinson Road, Canoona, near Yaamba, was charged with producing and possessing of a dangerous drug.
Criminal Investigation Branch officer in charge Detective Senior Sergeant Darrin Shadlow said they knew who the suspect was with the help of information received from members of the public.
The illegal drugs were found during the police search about 4pm on Monday.
The Canoona man was issued with a notice to appear in court in two weeks.
Another recent drug bust was 97 cannabis plants in a raid on two neighbouring properties north of Rockhampton in August.
Three people were charged with producing dangerous drugs after police swooped on the Canoona properties to find the plants as well as 250g of dried cannabis, a bag of cannabis seeds and drug utensils.
In this incident a 74-year-old pensioner, the owner of one home, was charged with producing dangerous drugs.
The occupants of the other home, a 30-year-old man and a 31-year old man, were each charged with producing and possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.
