Police smash child porn ring

POLICE have smashed a child pornography ring on Australia's eastern seaboard, raiding 19 properties in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT, and arresting 13 people in a fortnight-long operation.

Senior Australian Federal Police officers told The Age that one of the men arrested had horrific images and videos in quantities that would have required 24 standard laptop computers to store.

State and federal police have spent two weeks snaring Australian alleged members of the international file-sharing group after a tip-off from Interpol in December.

The original discovery of the pornography ring came in Germany.

Police said some of the abused children were infants, and that the material was close to the worst on a sliding scale law enforcement agencies use.
