IMAGINE flying down Mt Archer, without your feet ever touching the ground.

Late last year, Rockhampton Mayor Margaret Strelow opened the doors for discussion about making Mt Archer a strong local attraction - one to rival Townsville's Castle Hill.

Cr Strelow said the council would develop a master plan for Mount Archer, with a view to promoting the mountain as nature's great gymnasium.

"It is a brilliant asset. You could spend a fortune trying to build something with the same attributes as that," she said.

"It's an amazing opportunity - we've got a beautiful mountain, fabulous lookouts and people wanting to walk it."

A flying fox/ zip line idea was floated after a New South Wales contacted council.

The Bulletin has discovered a park in New South Wales has recently installed a flying fox.
