POLL AND VIDEO: Would you like a flying fox on Mt Archer?

IMAGINE flying down Mt Archer, without your feet ever touching the ground.

Late last year, Rockhampton Mayor Margaret Strelow opened the doors for discussion about making Mt Archer a strong local attraction - one to rival Townsville's Castle Hill.

Cr Strelow said the council would develop a master plan for Mount Archer, with a view to promoting the mountain as nature's great gymnasium.

"It is a brilliant asset. You could spend a fortune trying to build something with the same attributes as that," she said.

"It's an amazing opportunity - we've got a beautiful mountain, fabulous lookouts and people wanting to walk it."

A flying fox/ zip line idea was floated after a New South Wales contacted council.

The Bulletin has discovered a park in New South Wales has recently installed a flying fox.
