Strawberry flavoured milkshakes lead online poll

2.30PM: STRAWBERRY flavoured milkshakes are a straw ahead of chocolate and caramel in an online poll about favourite flavours.

Last week, following a random question posted on The Bulletin's Facebook page about milkshake flavours, a story was created online to cast the net further to find out which is the top milkshake flavour.

So far, 60 votes have been cast with strawberry securing 20% of the votes.

The poll closes on July 25 at noon.

WEDNESDAY: YOUNG or old, a milkshake is a great treat for all.

But did you know that the milkshake got named from being served in bars? Apparently if the customer enjoyed the milkshake, they shook hands with the bartender.

The first milkshake was documented in print in 1885 in a newspaper. And back in those days, whisky was added to the recipe (hence why they were served in bars).

But how do you decide which flavour is your favourite these days?

What is your favourite Milkshake flavour?

This poll ended on 25 July 2014.

Do your parents' tastes play a factor?

Or is it the milkshake maker?

Milkshakes are also known as frappes, McFlurries, Frostys, shakes, malts and cabinets.
