Pop icon comes to life on stage

CAPRICORN Coast performers will take centre stage this weekend in Rockhampton Venues and Events musical Dusty, the story of Dusty Springfield.

With local chanteuse Amanda Locker in the lead role and a cast including Emu Park Post Office owner Kerry Kaye playing Dusty's father, the musical is a showcase of Coast talent.

"It's shaping up to be a great show and everyone is excited about opening night," said Kerry, whose wife Tansy and daughter Francis are also involved in the production.

"Francis is in the chorus line and Tansy is a sequin sister, helping with costumes," he said

Yeppoon High performing arts teacher Amanda is well known, with a knockout performance at Club 28 last year.

Dusty opens at the Pilbeam Theatre on Friday with six shows running until April 1.
