Popular Kershaw Gardens monorail on the move

ALTHOUGH Kershaw Gardens can look forward to a complete makeover, there's one piece of playground equipment which will be sticking around.

The monorail will be relocated to the "central precinct" of the gardens, which will be one of the first areas to be reconstructed under a set of priorities passed in a full Rockhampton Regional Council meeting yesterday.

Cyclone Marcia unearthed waste from a former landfill at the gardens in February. It is expected to cost roughly $23 million in total to restore and redevelop the gardens.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said the monorail would be relocated, after discussions with the Rotary Club who originally donated it. She said there was provision in the budget for two new carriages, but she was not sure if they had been ordered.
