Man accused of torturing woman on weekend refused bail
11.40am: THE man accused of torturing a 54-year-old woman at a Port Curtis residence on the weekend has been refused bail.
David Nicoll, 45, appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court this morning, accused of torture, assault and contravention of a domestic violence order.
Magistrate Michael O'Driscoll refused Nicoll's bail application, stating he was an unacceptable risk to the public.
7am: A YEPPOON man will face court today charged with a string of offences relating to the alleged torture and assault of a woman at Port Curtis over the weekend.
Police allege the 45-year-old man assaulted and tortured a 54-year-old woman a number of times at a Bowlin Rd residence between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Police attended the address just before 4pm Saturday and allege the accused fled the scene into bushland.
He was later apprehended and taken into custody.
Following their investigations into an alleged incident at the residence in Bowlin Rd, police charged the man with four counts of common assault, and one count each of torture, attempting to injure by noxious substance, assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage and assault or obstructing police.
He was also charged with five counts of contravention of a domestic violence order.
