Power station workers to strike

STANWELL Power Station workers are set to strike tomorrow morning for 24 hours over stalled wage negotiations.

Members of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union, Electrical Trades Union and Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers Australia will take protected industrial action from 6am tomorrow following the expiry of the enterprise agreement in March this year.

AMWU Central Queensland organizer Phil Golby said Stanwell had not been bargaining in good faith and were demanding too many concessions from workers.

Workers will also picket Stanwell’s corporate office on Victoria Pde from 9am to 11am tomorrow at a rally.

Both the unions and corporate management say the strike won’t affect the power supply.
