Powerlines down, motorist trapped in Bruce Hwy crash

BREAKING: Powerlines are reportedly down at the scene of a crash on the Bruce Hwy on the Sunshine Coast. 

Energex crews have arrived at the scene of a crash at Meridan Plains, near the Caloundra Rd interchange. 

One person involved in the crash has been told to remain inside their vehicle, as powerlines are down nearby. 

It is understood the person in the car was not seriously injured in the crash just before 6.35am. 

Energex has not yet reported any power outages to properties on the Sunshine Coast. 

Traffic has not been seriously impacted at the crash scene. 

The incident comes just a day after a paraglider became caught in power lines at Sunrise Beach, forcing Energex to turn off power to more than 2200 Sunshine Coast homes.
