Longtime friend 'hopes to god' Martinez is still alive
JOE Lewis tightly clutches a T-shirt with the words Hold On And Pray printed on it, hoping to God his good friend Robert Martinez is still alive.
Joe hopes for a positive outcome so Robert can continue making groundwork on a new clothing line and label the missing Rockhampton man planned to turn into a lucrative business.
Joe lives in Gracemere and has been friends with Robert Martinez for seven years.
He thought it would be more than appropriate to put out an impassioned plea to the public to come forward with any information regarding Robert's whereabouts.
"He was always a happy guy, always joking around," Joe said.
"He's into his motorbikes and was working on his clothing line Hold On And Pray."
Joe met Robert through Robert's girlfriend Melissa and they have since been close.
Only in recent months did Joe meet Robert's family.
Robert, 26, and his friend Chantal Barnett, 27, have been missing since March.
Earlier this month, Joe put together a digital memoir of Robert and posted it to YouTube, in the hope someone would watch it and contact police about Robert's disappearance.
In the video he wrote: "There's a loving girlfriend that's missing the love of her life. A mother and a father who want their son home; a brother and sisters who miss him dearly.
"If someone out there knows something please speak up ... it has been too long now. No matter what, until there are answers, there's always hope.
"We all miss and love you Robbie and every day pray to God that you will come home."
When they met, Joe and Robert made common ground through their favourite musician, well-known rapper 2Pac.
"I just hope for the best for Robert's and Chantal's family that they will turn up some day," Joe said.
Police are investigating Robert's and Chantal's disappearance.
