NICKLIN MP Peter Wellington has told the Queensland Premier he would "take (him) on any day" after being accused of being a bikie gang apologist in parliament.

"I am saying that if the Premier wants a debate, I will take him on anywhere, any place," Mr Wellington shouted.

"You name the time and the place and I will be there."

Speaker Fiona Simpson asked the Sunshine Coast politician to lower his voice.

"Member for Nicklin, when you are shouting into the microphone I cannot even understand you," she said.

The outburst came after Mr Wellington asked how the government would ensure overseas visitors who committed crimes in Queensland were brought to justice before fleeing the country.

"We apply the law, of course," Premier Campbell Newman responded.

He went on to urge Mr Wellington to "stop showing such active support for members of criminal motorcycle gangs".

Mr Wellington called for a "show of community outrage" after five Sunshine Coast men, dubbed the Yandina Five, were jailed under new bikie legislation late last year.

That outrage was on display as Mr Newman's "unconditional withdrawals" were rejected.

"My guidance, Premier, would be if you add the term 'but' it could be seen to be a conditional withdrawal," speaker Fiona Simpson said.

Mr Wellington said he found the comments offensive and untrue.

"I would have expected better from the Premier of this state," he said.

The comments were eventually withdrawn, though the initial question about prosecuting offenders from overseas was never clearly answered.
