Price increase for coast houses in past 12 months

THE average sale price of homes in the Livingstone area has increased in the past 12 months.

According to the quarterly figures for March released by REIQ earlier in the week, there has been a 5.5% quarterly change since last year.

The median sale price stood at $376,000 in the past 12 months leading up to March, whereas recent figures show the median sale price for three months ago was $382,500.

Yeppoon Real Estate owner Esme Coren said the increase in the average price was due to a number of factors.

"I think you'll find the reason why the whole shire has increased is due to more buyers coming in from various areas and buying above the median average homes," she said.

"It's a case of a mixture of homes in the higher price brackets being sold in the suburb of Yeppoon; you have your everyday family home up for sale for around $400,000, then next door you could have a house around the $1million mark."
