A MAN has died after members of the public intervened in the alleged assault of two women.

The police Ethical Standards Command is  investigating the circumstances behind the death of the 37-year-old man at Bentley Park on November 2.

Police were called to the scene over an alleged assault on two women, and found the man unconscious when they arrived.

It has been reported that Neighbours and friends intervened, holding the man face down on the ground until police arrived.

It is understood the man struggled violently while he was being held on the ground, before falling silent.
