Program sees $70 million investment in small businesses
SMALL businesses have attracted an additional $70 million in investment following a Queensland Government initiative, the LNP has claimed.
However, the Opposition pointed to the increasing unemployment rate as a key indicator of the state of the economy.
Small business minister Jann Stuckey said the Mentoring for Growth program had helped more than 430 businesses across Queensland and led to $70 million of additional investment in the state.
"Queensland businesses have attracted $70 million in new investment after taking advantage of the Mentoring for Growth program in 2014," said Ms Stuckey.
"More jobs have been created after participating businesses increased employment by an average of 5%."
However, an Opposition spokesman said the poor Queensland economy was hurting small businesses and job seekers.
"Most people measure the economy by whether or not they have a job and the LNP have failed when it comes to jobs," he said.
