Promising Giant now in sights of reigning premiers

HAVING already landed quality Melbourne defender James Frawley, Hawthorn is now set to secure promising Giants midfielder Jono O'Rourke, and possibly 2008 Brownlow Medal winner Adam Cooney from the Western Bulldogs.

O'Rourke (pictured), taken by GWS with selection No.2 in the 2012 national draft, wants to return to Victoria and after deliberating between the premiers and wooden spooner St Kilda, opted for the Hawks.

The 20-year-old managed just nine senior games in his two seasons in Sydney, his opportunities cut short by a broken jaw and hamstring and shoulder injuries.

Hawthorn, which has picks 19 and 39 in the 2014 national draft, will now have to negotiate a deal with the Giants.

In other trade news, North Melbourne midfielder Levi Greenwood has requested a move to Collingwood provided a deal can be struck, and livewire Carlton forward Jeff Garlett wants to play for Melbourne next season.
