Protesters to front court today

THREE anti-war activists who managed to gain access to Shoalwater Bay’s military training area to disrupt the Talisman Sabre exercise, will appear at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court this morning.

Margaret Pestorius, Andy Paine and Robert Jones were arrested yesterday after blocking a military transport within the training area.

They face charges of trespass and obstruction but said yesterday they had achieved their aim and had left a shrine to Franz Jaegerstaetter in the training area.

Franz Jaegerstaetter, beatified in 2007, was an Austrian who was beheaded in 1943 for speaking out against the Nazis.
