Opinion needed for future of land

THE future of prime State-owned land near the Fitzroy River is under review and the community will get a say in what it’s used for.

The State Government yesterday revealed it wants public input into the future use of 49-hectares at Thompson’s Point, 30km south-east of Rockhampton.

The Department of Environment and Resource management will assess the land’s social, economic, cultural and environmental value, as well as the aspirations of the community.

As part of the consultation process the department has sent letters to the Local Government, State and Commonwealth agencies, neighbouring landholders and interested organisations.

Submissions will close on November 22.
