QANTAS flight forced to make emergency landing in Rocky
TRAVELLING by plane is a routine part of engineer Eric Duthie's life, but the frequent flyer could not predict what would happen aboard his flight from Brisbane this morning.
Mr Duthie got the shock of his life when his Brisbane to Townsville flight lost cabin pressure and was forced to make an emergency landing in Rockhampton.
"Everything had been going fine, but then we started to feel a bit of turbulence," Eric explained.
"The captain explained that they were experiencing some technical difficulties and would have to make an emergency landing"
"That was when the air bags came down and we all started to get pretty nervous"
Mr Duthie said that the crew were told to brace for the emergency landing, which happened successfully at the Rockhampton airport.
"We were evacuated from the plane and we were surrounded by fire crews who went straight in to inspect the plane" he said.
Nobody is believed to have been injured during the emergency landing, though it has left a number of passengers stranded as they await for alternate transport to get to their destination.
A comment is being sought from Qantas regarding this issue.
