Queens Park revamp a hit with families

THE Queens Park revamp is a hit as a steady stream of families converged on the upgraded playground this weekend.

Andergrove mother of two Keely Smith said the extra facilities and additional playground for older children were great.

"It's a lot more family friendly," she said.

"And it's a better park for the bigger kids."

The $8.86 million revitalisation, which is in the final stages, includes playgrounds, two dog parks, picnic areas, a toilet block, gardens and a path that circles the entire park.

 

 

East Mackay's Zac Stemm and Ellex Brown, who live "a stone's throw" from the park said they had been waiting for it to reopen so the could check it out with their four-year-old son Angus Stemm.

"It's definitely more user friendly now," Mr Stemm said.

"Boys love to ride their bikes and now they can here."

Ms Brown said the park looked great and the better facilities made it more convenient for families.

"It's a great spot to bring the kids," she said.
