Queensland made video makes it in New York
A video advertisement produced by a duo based on the Redcliffe Peninsula is being screened to hundreds of thousands of people a day on one of the most prominent billboards in New York's Times Square.
Trending Media Australia, co-directed by Aaron Lucas and his husband Jesse Ellis, is based in Margate, north of Brisbane.
They created the advertisement for lipstick brand LipSense.
It is currently being played on a giant 13 storey billboard in New York's Times Square.
Mr Lucas said he could not believe that a video production company from Margate would be given such an honour.
"My husband Jesse and I started our small business by filming weddings in 2014," Mr Lucas said.
"If you had of told me that we'd be making a video for a billboard in New York by 2019 I wouldn't have believed you.
"Knowing our work is on one of the biggest screens in Times Square is hard to comprehend.
"We were so excited we booked flights to New York so we could see it with our own eyes."
The video was filmed using the Sydney Harbour Bridge as the backdrop to give the video an Aussie flavour.
Mr Ellis said we wanted to make sure the audience could identify the product and location immediately.
"Being one of the most recognisable icons, the Harbour Bridge was the perfect choice for the 15 second video," Mr Ellis said.
"It also ensured that New Yorkers would be left with no doubt that this billboard video came from Down Under.
"I've got to say it's pretty cool seeing our work and the Harbour Bridge splashed on an 8,500 square foot billboard in the heart of Time Square."
Trending Media Australia was hired by Melbourne based LipSense distributor Jacqui Burns to produce the clip as part of a contest to see yourself on a Times Square billboard.
"This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and a dream come true," Ms Burns said.
