Queensland Motorkhana Championships this weekend

THIS weekend will be the first and second rounds of the Queensland Motorkhana Championships at the Saleyards complex at Gracemere.

Round 1 to commence at 11am on Saturday, and round 2 to commence at 7am on Sunday.

Current Queensland champion, Noel Caplet, past Australian Champion Allan McConnell will be attending in their Special built vehicles, along with local champion Andrew Mitchell (Mini).

Other locals include Gordon Fischer(VW Golf), Arthur Ramm ( Special) from Rockhampton, and Gladstone drivers Jamie Overend (Corolla) and Keith Honour (Skyline).

Classes are defined by wheelbase and front or rear wheel drive. Times are taken for each course completed, then added to give an aggregate time over each day.

Penalties are given for knocking course markers, or traveling in the wrong direction.
This type of motor sport is excellent to train younger drivers in basic skills including acceleration , braking and manouvering.

Spectator entry is free, and the canteen will be operating, so come and along and watch some of the better drivers show off their skills.

Perhaps your learner driver may be interested, so come and find out more.
