Queensland Police Union condemns 'kill sheets' return

THE return of "kill sheets" at police stations which set quotas and attempt to name and shame underperforming cops has been condemend by the Queensland Police Union.

Fairfax Media understands kill sheets have been posted at four police stations in southeast Queensland, with one unit on the Gold Coast recording arrests made and tickets issued by individual officers on a prominent whiteboard.

Controversial kill sheets were a widely condemned feature of the police force under the Joh Bjelke-Petersen government in the 1970s and 80s.

Police union representative for the South East Region Sergeant Bob Smithson said the alleged re-emergence of kill sheets marked a return to the dark era.

Earlier this year, Commissioner Ian Stewart rolled out a scorecard system for cops in an effort to reduce crime across the state by 10 per cent.
